First of all, this mask is amazing. Read on.
I've always had problem skin such as acne, pimples, and eczema since I was a teenager. I have used prescribed soaps, Proactive, Neutrogena, birth control pills, etc., to help clear up my acne and acne scarring. I am using Proactive for a long time now and still use it till this day. Birth control pills, for obvious reasons, worked the best for me, but I discontinued those in 2011. Since being off the pills I have been breaking out in acne and pimples all the time, but it wasn't until early this year when I was breaking out in cystic acne WEEKLY. It was terrible. I was at the verge to try almost anything, but at a reasonable price. I didn't want to buy something that would be so costly only to find out that it didn't work out for me. Proactive wasn't working as well as it used to before to a degree and even though BC pills worked the best for me I just didn't want to go back to it again. I was looking for more of a gentler approach and I'm thinking organic or a DIY version. At this point, I was getting desperate and searched online for a cure, so I stumbled upon a YouTube video by Promise Phan, a make-up artist and YouTube sensationalist, who had made a video on a turmeric face mask that could possibly help with acne, scarring, wrinkles, dark circles, and more. So, I gave it a try.

My 5 month turmeric face mask challenge
As you can see from my photo on the left, on the top row, I had very visible acne and scarring. My troubled areas were my forehead, jawline, and cheeks. Although it may not look like much, but I was breaking out around my cheek area almost weekly and had blood pools under old scars that would not heal for weeks.
I was very skeptical to try this mask, but the more I researched it the more I wanted to give it a try. The first time I tried this mask it was very messy. It stains the skin, stains any porous surface, and clothing. I know it looks ridiculous, but well worth it if you have problem skin like me.
I really love this mask, mess and all.
Recipe: (FOR OILY SKIN)
2 tablespoons turmeric powder
1 tablespoon rice powder (I use mochiko)
2-3 tablespoons milk or yogurt
1 tsp honey
1 tsp lemon juice
Substitute milk or yogurt for olive oil if you have dry skin.
Mix and keep in fridge. It should keep for about a week. Apply to face for 20 minutes and rinse and scrub off with water. It will stain your face so use a toner. If you still notice the yellow, don't worry the color will disappear overnight or use a good scrub in the morning. I apply my mask after a shower so that my pores are open and I do this every other night to keep my oily skin in check. It does not dry out my skin at all.
My results are significant and literally life changing. I've had compliments about my complexion from people I barely knew and wanted my recipe. They've said my face was glowing, smooth, bright, and youthful. It was definitely a confidence booster considering what I used to look like before the mask challenge. I still use Proactive and Neutrogena products to keep up with hygiene in between treatments.
I will admit that I have skipped out on a few weeks of treatment due to a move and just never found the time to make a mask. I was expecting to break out during that period, but I never broke out even during a menstrual cycle when I am most likely to break out in acne. I haven't had a break out in 3 months until recently though. It was so easy to treat them if you feel them coming on. The redness and swelling goes down significantly after one treatment. The face mask works better than any spot treatments I've tried out there.
Anyway, I hope you give this a try. It works and it's CHEAP!
Good luck.
